A post-partum doula is a trained professional who supports a new family in the first few days, weeks, and months after bringing home a new baby (or babies).
Services of a Postpartum Doula:
* Post-partum planning support
* Assistance with newborn care such as diapering, bathing, feeding, and comforting (including babywearing)
* Breastfeeding and bottle-feeding support
* Baby soothing techniques
* Providing emotional support and nurturing the new parents
* Supporting non-birthing parent in connecting with newborn
* Troubleshooting with feeding and sleep cycles (including education around what are realistic expectations)
*Light meal preparation / meal planning support
* Help with supporting the mom’s well-being (recovery from birth), the babies well-being, and fostering relationship building.
*Education about child development
*Referrals to local resources such as but not limited to parenting classes, pediatricians, lactation consultants and parenting support groups
